Heat output can be a tricky property as it depends on a few factors. One of them is dryness of the wood. You can get on the market both dried and green wood. It takes at least half a year to get your green firewood into condition that it will produce maximum heat in burning. Beside of the heat output, green wood will ignite much harder, will produce more smoke, and will not coal very well. The heat output can depend on a particular stove model as well, because some modern stoves use very advanced features that will utilize burning to its maximum.
