Bixby Corn Stoves

Bixby Corn Stoves are manufactured by Bixby Energy Systems, Inc., a company established by Robert Walker in 2001. The same Robert Walker who invented the Sleep Number Bed earlier in 1980's and marketed it through Select Comfort Corporation. Concerned with energy crisis and global warming effect, Walker turned his attention to a new area after retirement from Select Comfort Corporation. After thorough and comprehensive research in the areas of alternative energy, Bixby Energy developed in 2004 its first biomass stove – Maxfire.

There're current two models available for Bixby corn stoves: Maxfire stove and UBB (Ugly Black Box). Both stoves provide an extreme efficiency of 99.7% of combustion ratio. They are both equipped with automatic cleaning system that will automatically remove ash from the pot and reduce time spent on cleaning. Reliable fuel-feeding system design of the Bixby corn stoves will prevent clogging that often happens with pellet and corn stoves. Both stoves can be start with a simple push of a button and self-diagnostic system will ease operation.

The Maxfire stove have a large hopper that holds almost two bushels and the UBB stove features even a larger 5.4-bushel hopper. The heat output of the Maxfire stove can be adjusted between 8,000 to 50,000 BTU and the UBB stove can generate up to 70,000 BTUs. The Maxfire stove is capable of heating area of up to 2,200 square feet, which is enough for a house and the UBB stove is design to heat a workshop or can be connected to provide centre heating, working on its own or as an addition to an existing heating system.
