Bixby Pellet Stoves

Bixby Pellet Stoves are made by Bixby Energy Systems, Inc., established by Robert Walker in 2001, who also invented the Sleep Number Bed earlier in 1980's and was working before with Select Comfort Corporation. Close to his retirement, Robert was getting increasingly concerned with energy crisis in the world and problems of global warming effect. And after retiring from Select Comfort Corporation, Walker turned his all attention to a new area: energy and heating. After intensive research in the areas of alternative energy, in 2004 Bixby Energy developed its first biomass stove Maxfire.

Currently, there're two models of Bixby pellet stoves available: mentioned before Maxfire stove and UBB, standing for "Ugly Black Box". Both stoves provide an outstanding efficiency with 99.7% of combustion ratio. Bixby pellet stoves are equipped with automatic cleaning system that will automatically remove ash from the pot, which will reduce time you spent on cleaning. Both stoves feature reliable fuel-feeding system designs that will prevent clogging that quite often happens with pellet and corn stoves. Ignition for both stoves is done through a simple push of a button and a self-diagnostic system will provide easy and safe operation.

The Maxfire stove features a large hopper that can hold about two bushels and the UBB unit has even a larger 5.4-bushel hopper. The heat output of the Maxfire stove can be anywhere from 8,000 to 50,000 BTU, whereas the UBB stove can produce up to 70,000 BTUs. The Maxfire stove is designed for heating areas of up to 2,200 square feet, which should be enough for a house, and the UBB stove can heat much larger spaces, like workshops and such or even can be connected to a central heating system, working as a primary unit on its own or as a secondary one to boost up output of the existing heating system.
