Antique Wood Stoves can be of interest for keen collectors but they are not necessary just collectors items. Wood stoves of early days are often reliable and simple enough heating devices that still capable of brining warmth and comfort to any home. Wood stoves been around, providing warm and cozy nights for centuries and during this time many brands and types become obsolete forming a category that is now know as antique wood stoves.

One of the popular examples of antique wood stoves is Franklin Fireplace Stove, also known as Ben Franklin Stove that was indeed invented by this great American, and which was manufactured from 1830 to 1910. The Franklin wood stove featuring several revolutionary techniques of the time, which made it safe and efficient heating device. A modern version of Franklin wood stove is now produced by Vogelzang Company that still have the same colonial design and feel that it had over a century ago.

There are also several designs of antique wood stoves that were popular in 18th and 19th centuries and generally not used anymore. One example is a Cylinder stove that was produced at the late 19th century. It was a central heating unit for homes and businesses, and as all items of Victorian era, it features sophisticated design and classy embellishments intrinsic for that time. Another example of antique wood stoves is Column stoves that were made in the middle of the 19th century. They could work on either wood or coal and used for heating Victorian and early American homes.

Pot belly wood stoves were used from the middle of the 19th century and up to the middle of the 20th century and were made of cast-iron and used all around America as well as in many other countries around the world. There're some contemporary versions produced by modern stove makers that can add to a décor of your house. An interesting example of antique wood stoves is Parlor stoves, manufactured from 1870 to 1920 and used for heating residential properties and could keep burning up to 12 hours on a single wood load. Another example of vintage wood stoves worth mentioning is Box stoves that were made of solid cast-iron and were produced in the middle of 19th century. They were not big devices and were suitable for heating bedrooms and other smaller places.

Collecting antique wood stoves is not as popular as collecting some other artifacts of old, but there're still a great number of people looking for rare examples of older wood stove craftsmanship.
